Resource Configuration

The devices and drivers use the system resource to communicate with the computer. When you install the operating system, Windows Server 2003 sets the resources for the devices and drivers. You may need to set the resource for a device or a driver manually because of communication problems with the device.

configure the resource for the LPT1 port:

1. Open Device Manager.

2. Expand Ports (COM & LPT).

3. Select Printer Port (LPT1).

4. Select Action > Properties. The Properties dialog box appears.

5. Click the Resources tab. The Resource tab appears,

In the Resources tab, the options are:

Use automatic settings - Sets the resources automatically

Change Setting - Specifies to modify the resource settings

6. Clear the Use automatic settings check box.

7. Click Change Setting. The Edit Interrupt Request dialog box appears

8. Enter the required value in the Value spin box.

9. Click OK.
