Disabling and Enabling ComDuter Accounts

Consider a scenario, where an employee of a company is on a holiday. You do not want other users to access the network using the employee’s computer. You can disable the account so that other users cannot access the network using the employees account. After the employee returns from the holiday, you can permit access to the employee’s account by enabling the computer account.

To disable a Computer Account:

1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers console. The Active Directory Users and Computers console appears.

2. Click Computers. The list of computers appears.

3. Select the computer account to disable.

4. Select Action -> Disable Account. The Active Directory Confirmation message box appears.

5. Click Yes. The Object Disabled message box appears.

6. Click OK. Windows Server 2003 disables the computer account and displays a red cross symbol against the account.
