Disk Management Tools
Windows Server 2003 supports the NTFS file system. The data on a hard disk drive can be corrupted and there are chances of data loss. The NTFS file system creates a log of the events, such as, file transactions. The applications generate temporary files when you access any document or application. These temporary file occupy disk space. The performance of the disk reduces when the number of temporary files increases on the hard disk. You can use the disk management tools, such as, chkdsk, disk defragmenter, and disk quota to improve the performance of the disk. The administrator has the permissions to execute the disk management tools. The administrator must use the disk management tools frequently to maintain the performance of the hart disk drive.
